The Turpin boys golf teams hit the links on Monday at Ivy Hills CC for the inaugural Turpin Cup, a Ryder Cup inspired end of season celebration. The teams consisted of evenly paired matchups and competed with a partner in various formats of match play. The guys did not disappoint in creating excitement. On the first hole, there was not one, but TWO hole in ones. The first was by freshman McCoy Reynolds and the second was about ten minutes later by senior Isaac Goldner.
Things were pretty tight down the stretch with the "gold" team winning the first two points to come in, but the "maroon" team finished strong winning the last two points that put us into a playoff. The playoff was a one hole, three man team alternate shot format. Cash Renfro led things off for the maroon team and hit his drive about 3 feet from the pin, allowing his team to win with an eagle. It was a fun way to end the season and will certainly be a new tradition of the Turpin golf program.
