The Sectional tournament brought many highs and lows as the Lady Spartans attempted to advance to the District tournament.
On Wednesday, at Crossgate Lanes, the Spartans were focused on the goal of advancing to next level. After shooting a 3 game team high of 2075 in the regular games (675, 692, 708) Turpin was in 7th place heading into the Baker games with just a 3 pin lead over Lakota West.
After a slow start shooting a 124 in game #1 the Spartans fired back with a 190 in game #2 followed by a 140, 114, 116, and a 153 for a six game total of 837 and a tournament total of 2912. Unfortunately, the Spartans ended up 12 pins short, finishing in 8th place, just missing the final qualifying spot for Districts.
The Sectional tournament brought an end to the season, but not after seeing mass improvement for the entire team. First year coach Michelle Dietz and the Spartans finished with 11 overall wins, best since the 2014 season.
Congratulations to Molly Campbell for being named ECC player of the week and to Sarah Comello for qualifying for the District tournament next week in Dayton.
