The Varsity Spartans of Turpin Men’s Tennis (@TurpinMTennis) topped their cross-district rivals, the Anderson Redskins, 3-2, on April 18th to remain unbeaten in Eastern Cincinnati Conference play. All three singles matches were won by the Spartans to secure the team win.
ECC matches versus Kings, Glen Este, and Walnut are slated for the week of April 24.
Versus Anderson, the first two points were taken as Junior Ethan Caruso won at Second Singles, 6-0, 6-1, over M. Feagins, and Senior Will Muscatello won at Third Singles, 6-0, 6-0, over A. Feagins. Junior First Singles Grant Wendel secured the win for the Spartans with a win over Redskins Junior Will Sultan, 6-4, 6-2.
Spartan First Doubles teammates Senior Michael Borger and Sophomore Patrick Wantz lost, 6-2, 6-3, to Loepke and Hugenberg. The Turpin Second Doubles duo of Junior Jake Kovach and Freshman McCoy Reynolds dropped a close match, 6-3, 6-3, to Ray and Hoffman.
The Junior Varsity Team led by Coach Matthew Chaney also registered a win over the JV Redskins, 4-1. Winning for the Spartans were Sophomore David Thomas (Ct 1), 6-1, 6-2, Freshman Preston Rhodes (Ct 2), 6-2, 6-3, Freshmen Cody Seeman and Zach Zellner (Doubles Ct 2), 6-0, 6-0, and Sophomores Sam Hammelrath and Reed Owens, 6-1, 6-2. Sophomore Hayden Browne lost a close match on Court 3, 6-3, 6-1.
