Turpin’s three seniors J.W. Naughton, Drew Sesler and Marc Gendreau celebrated Senior Day with an 11-1 victory over Withrow. Naughton, Sesler and Jake Silverstein collected two hits apiece to spark the Spartan offense. Christian Curry got the start and the win with relief help from Noah Wagner.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Spartans batted around in their half of the inning and put seven runs on the board. Naughton scored on a single by Sesler. Gendreau scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Lambert. A walk to Andrew Witt loaded the bases. Another walk to Casey Williams scored Sesler. A 2 RBI double by Woody Rosebraugh scored Silverstein and Witt. A single by Naughton led to 2 more RBIs by scoring Williams and Rosebraugh.
Silverstein led off the second inning with a walk. Lambert followed with a double down the left field line. Witt got an RBI on a ground ball to second base which scored Silverstein and put Turpin ahead 8-1. Silverstein got things going again in the fourth inning with a leadoff double. He scored to make it 9-1 after infield ground outs by Lambert and Matt Millikin.
Turpin put the game away in the fifth inning. With two out, Naughton singled and Gendreau walked. RBI singles by Sesler and Silverstein scored Naughton and Gendreau for the final score of 11-1.
