After a disappointing loss to McCauley last Saturday, our Spartans looked to rebound against in league opponent Walnut Hills Eagles.
Both the Spartans and the Eagles had very few scoring opportunities in the first half as both teams look like they would have rather been watching the US Women’s National team play at Nippert Stadium than play their own game. Most of the play was played at midfield with each team getting no real shots on goal.
Coming out of half time, the Spartans started to put real pressure on the Eagles defense and was rewarded with several scoring chances in the first few minutes. In the 4th minute , Chloe Smith beat her defender and delivered a simple pass to Emma Siler. Emma passed up a challenging shot and delivered a perfect pass to Olivia Heltman for the first goal of the game. 1-0 Turpin. 10 minutes later Skylar Huster took a corner kick that found the head of Spencer Heming to add an insurance goal. Turpin 2-0. Walnut Hills never really had any true threats to score as the Spartans played solid team defense.
The Spartans play St. Ursula on Homecoming Saturday at 12:30pm….Make sure to mark your calendar for Saturday as well as next week’s game at home against Forest Hill’s foe Anderson on Tuesday, September 26th.
