Tea joined the Turpin Soccer Family this year after transferring from St Ursula (their loss/our gain).
Tea (a goal keeper) probably wasn’t sure how much playing time she would see based on Turpin returning their three year starter, Caroline Welsh who was returning for her own senior year. I believe the coaches, players, and fans sure where glad for Tea’s decision to come to THS. Tea has been thrust into the starting role of goal keeper for several games while Caroline Welsh recovered from a midseason injury. Tea has risen to the occasion and played exceptionally well for the Spartans all season long.
Tea started playing soccer at the ripe old age of 8 years old for the scrappy “Titans”. Tea met one of her closest friends while playing during those early years and still stays in touch after all these years. Tea played her club ball for SCSA, CU, and eventually for Ohio Elite.
Since Tea didn’t join our program until her senior year, she didn’t have those upper classmen to mentor her. Tea does mention that Caroline Welsh has been super goal keep partner and thinks Caroline is “an amazing keeper”. Tea does recommend that incoming players “always do their best and work toward improvement”. Turpin team dinners and saying the Hail Mary in Spanish before every game is her favorite off field traditions of the program.
Tea hasn’t decided on if she will play club soccer or just intramurals once she gets to college.
Thanks for joining our program and best of luck Tea Cup.
