Over the past week, the Turpin girls’ track team has travelled to the homes of two ECC competitors to showcase the team’s talent and depth. At the Anderson Invitational on April 21 and 22, the Lady Spartans took first in a field of 16 teams, beating second place Kings by more than 20 points. On April 29, Turpin’s girls were edged out by just three points to take second behind the home team at Loveland’s Dawn DeHart Invitational.
Track & Field
Although many Spartan track and field athletes had their best performances of the season at the District meet in Mason, only the top four in each event advanced to the Regional meet to take on the best athletes in the southwest quarter of Ohio.
The Turpin varsity track and field season never ends with the conference meet. One week later, the Spartans returned to Mason High School for the third time this season, this time to compete in the Southwest Ohio District championship. Performances here determined which athletes would continue their seasons by qualifying for the Regional meet and, from there, the State championship in Ohio.
Turpin's varsity track and field teams took on the best of the Eastern Cincinnati Conference at the ECC championship held at Anderson High School on May 14 and 16. The girls finished in third place behind Walnut Hills and Kings while the boys took fourth behind Loveland, Kings and Walnut Hills in a meet filled with many exciting moments.
