The Turpin Spartans opened their 2015 aeason with a win over the neighborhood McNicholas Rockets, 13-10, scoring the game-winning touchdown with just 28 seconds remaining in the game.
Last year, the Spartans picked up Rob Stoll's 100th win as head coach and pushed his career record to 101-45. But in the last two years, Turpin is a combined 8-12 and is three years removed from the perfect regular season it put together. Of course, that's all in the past and coaches like to focus on the here and now.
In week 10 against Walnut Hills, sophomore Lang Evans (42) had 19 tackles and an Interception on defense and carried the ball two times on offense for 53 yards as the Spartans' blocking fullback. For the season, he broke the old Turpin single season tackling record by one-and-a-half tackles - he had a total of 178.5 tackles for the season!
The Turpin football team sent their senior players off in style, drilling the Walnut Hills Eagles 40-6 in the season finale Friday on Halloween Night.
