The Turpin girls had a quick turnaround this week for a rare midweek race on the tail end of their Saturday night race. Little rest must agree with them! They took first of the 11 teams in the race. All the girls ran in one race so this was a good snapshot of the whole program.
Sam Bush, Jayne Maxwell, Lydia Bentley, Jenny Middendorf and Isabel Shim led the Spartans' girls cross country team to a championship at the St. Xavier Invitational Saturday. The Turpin boys claimed 5th place led by Ben Gothard, who took home 3rd overall.
The girls XC team had different kind of race this week. They had a night race on Saturday and they proved they are just as strong on their night legs. They had a very competitive race against as many as 24 teams and finished in the top five of each race. The night had three girls races.
The Spartan ladies cross country team had a busy weekend with the team split between two races. Seven varsity girls went to the Trinity/Valkyrie at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville. They raced against some of the best teams from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, and Virginia. The remaining team attended the Milford Invitational.
