The Turpin boys golf teams hit the links on Monday at Ivy Hills CC for the inaugural Turpin Cup, a Ryder Cup inspired end of season celebration. The teams consisted of evenly paired matchups and competed with a partner in various formats of match play. The guys did not disappoint in creating excitement. On the first hole, there was not one, but TWO hole in ones. The first was by freshman McCoy Reynolds and the second was about ten minutes later by senior Isaac Goldner.
On Tuesday, the Turpin JV defeated Anderson JV 186-194 to finish off the season undefeated against its biggest rival. The Spartans were led by freshmen Austin Williamson's 44 and Zach Gardner's 45 at Legendary Run Golf Course. McNicholas also brought a Varsity-JV mixed squad that shot 180.
The Turpin boys golf team concluded their season on Tuesday in Sectionals at Glenview Golf Course. While the team didn't make it out of Sectionals, junior Ryan Lambert led the team with a 78. This was enough to put him into a playoff for the last spot to advance to districts as an individual. Unfortunately, the playoff did not go in our favor, but it was a great round to end the season. He was followed by sophomore Cash Renfro who shot an 80.
On Saturday, Sept. 24th, the Turpin JV traveled to the Meadow Links Golf Course for the CHL JV Invitational. Freshman Zach Gardner was co-medalist with a 36, while fellow freshmen Garrett Frey and Austin Williamson also placed in the top 5 with a pair of 41s. Sophomore Tanner Wessels finished out the scoring with a 42.
