Led by co-medalist Elizabeth Chamberlin, the girls golf team beat McNick and Anderson at Coldstream Country Club to win the Queen of the Hill match. In record setting fashion, the girls turned in the lowest team score since the inception of the event. Elizabeth Chamberlin shot a 40, Margot Swartz a 46, Bel Ciampone a 47 and Aly Haverstraw a 50. The trophy returns to Turpin after after a ten year hiatus. On Monday, the team travels to Walden Pond to compete in Sectionals.
A busy week for the Turpin JV resulted in three match wins and a first place tournament finish. The Spartans beat Seven Hills 165-217 at Legendary Run on Monday, led by Freshmen Nick Langan (40) and Zach Fidishun (41) and sophomore Zach Gardner (41).
In her last ECC match yesterday, medalist Bel Ciampone shot a 41 at Terrace Park. Bel, who has been a four year varsity golfer, shot her career low round.
It is an exciting time in the ECC for girls golf. It is a league on the rise. In the ECC Tournament, Turpin scored 35 strokes better than last year and 74 strokes better than the year before.
