Down 12 points early in the 3rd quarter, Turpin went on a 12-2 run to cut the Glen Este lead to just 2 points going into the 4th. That’s when the seniors took command of the game, forced overtime, and defeated the defending ECC champs on their home court 56-48.
The Spartans smothering man to man defense dictated the entire game Saturday holding the Loveland Tigers to just 5 points in the first half in route to a convincing 44-30 victory in the first conference game for both squads.
With the game tied at 34 going into the 4th quarter, Spartan senior guard, Kaitlyn Workman, took command of the game scoring 11 of her game high 23 points in the final frame. Turpin outscored the hosts of Hamilton 23-12 in the final quarter to win 57-46 and improve to 2-1 in this young season.
Monday road games are always difficult. Turpin travelled to Little Miami as two different styled teams faced off with the tall and athletic Spartans matching up with the guard focused Panthers.
