On Wednesday night, Milford hosted Turpin in their second match up of the season. This game wasn’t just any game between two area rivals; instead it was the third annual Game of Hope and when all the pomp and circumstance of the evening was complete, a total of $5,000 was raised to benefit the fight against cancer. While the final score indicated a 42-28 Turpin victory, even the Spartans would agree that the biggest winner of the night was The Cure Starts Now Foundation.
Two of the top teams in the ECC met as Turpin traveled to the campus of Walnut Hills for a game that would have a direct impact on the conference championship. For three quarters, the game was full of intrigue, but in the final quarter, the host’s 10 player rotation turned out to be too much for the Spartans.
In the midst of a two game winning streak for both squads, the Glen Este Trojans called on Klinger Court and used seven 3 pointers to overwhelm the Spartans, 43-30.
The Spartans opened up arguably the most important week of the season in impressive fashion by dismantling the Aviators of Sycamore, 48-22, as three players scored in double figures and the defense held the visitors to just 10 points in the first half.
