While the record only shows 3 wins and 2 losses, the past 5 games have seen the effort and execution improve radically for the Freshman boys. The past 2 weeks have seen the Spartans lose a hearbreaker to conference leader Kings on a buzzer-beater 3 pointer as time expired. Turpin, at one point held a 14 point lead in the in the second half, but a 3 point prayer saved the game for the gritty Knights. This proves to our boys that they can compete with the best and good things are in store for the Spartan youth.
Boys Frosh Basketball
In what just might be one of the best teams our FR team has played this year, these boys might have played their best half of basketball in the second half last night to get a great win over conference powerhouse Milford last night. In a total team effort, the Spartans fought hard and found a way to get a nice win. Everyone on the team contributed to the victory last night, as Coach Taylor and Coach Jackson went deep into their bench to keep fresh legs in the game.
The Freshman Boys are beginning to come together. Their last 2 games have seen a much more consistent team with better effort defensively and, at times, more consistent offense. The boys are doing a much better job of boxing out and limiting the opponents offensive chances. They are doing a great job of creating good scoring opportunities in transition and their offensive effort is moving in the right direction.
Sorry for the absence over the Holiday. I will try to be more prompt with my articles. Turpin split a pair of games to end the calendar year with a hard fought loss at Glen Este; always a difficult place to play, but rebounded very well in defeating a previously undefeated Amelia Barons.
