Turpin took on Walnut Hills last Monday in an ECC match at Cherry Grove Lanes. After match play Turpin held a 1405-1136 advantage. The Baker games went Turpin's way also as the Lady Spartans posted a 1927-1562 victory. Leading Turpin was Madison Gillespie rolling a 181 game and 328 series.
On Tuesday, the Lady Spartans got back on the lanes after a week off taking on Withrow at Cherry Grove Lanes in a non conference match. The layoff had an effect as Turpin got off to a slow start, but after match play, Turpin held a commanding lead of 1307-1139. Alise Dumford rolled a 179 in her first game. The Baker games went to Turpin as well and the Lady Spartans posted an 1831-1660 victory. Madison Gillespie rolled a high series of 289. Turpin improved to 4-1 on the year.
Turpin girls opened league play Monday, November 25, with a home match against Milford. After the first game Turpin was up by 18 pins with Amy Ballitch’s lead score of 151 and all other bowlers scoring about the same. From there though, Milford upped their game and took a 25 pin lead into the Baker games. Each Baker game was close, but at the end of the match Milford claimed an 1831-1776 victory handing Turpin their first loss of the season.
Turpin;'s Lady Spartans bowling team traveled to Brentwood Bowl on Monday, November 18, to open the 2013-14 bowling season in a tri-match against a tough Ursuline team and an up and coming Wyoming team. After match play, Turpin held a slim lead over Ursuline (54 pins) and a commanding lead over Wyoming. The winner would be determined in the baker games. Turpin out bowled Ursuline in the baker games 545-476 to claim the tri-match victory.
