As promised, everyone had a great time at the year-end student/teacher party on Monday, February 10. Coach Fisher even participated, partnering up with senior, Krista Heggem. After two games of scotch doubles, last year's champs, Mr. Chaney and senior, Kamila Samadi, defended their title with a two game total of 318. Then, everyone bowled a game of Crazy Bowl...what a great time! Pizza, pop and snacks were provided to all participants as well.
The Lady Spartans started the last week of January with a 9-6 record. Four matches later their record stands at 10-9 with their only victory being a home conference match against Kings 2042-1957. Leading Turpin was Madison Gillespie who had a 400 series and a 206 game. Turpin traveled to Mason Bowl the next day for a rematch against Kings, but the outcome did not go Turpin's way. Kings exacted revenge and defeated Turpin 2049-1830. Madison Gillespie led Turpin with a 339 series. Turpin finished with a 6-6 record in the ECC.
The Lady Spartans did not allow the cold weather to affect their bowling as they dominated Anderson 2268-1873. Leading Turpin was sophomore, Isabelle Reynolds, who rolled a 398 series with a 205 game, followed by junior, Madison Gillespie, who had a 389 series and a 201 game. Turpin also set a couple of new records with a high match game of 847 and match series total of 2268. Turpin improves to 9-6 overall and 5-5 in ECC and takes on Kings in back to back matches Monday at Cherry Grove Lanes and Tuesday at Mason Bowl. The Lady Spartans then return to Cherry Grove on Thursday for a match against Fairfield.
The Lady Spartans were hoping to extend their recent success from the ECC/SWOC Tournament finish this week, but faced a tough Loveland team. On Monday at their home lanes, Turpin found themselves down sixty pins after match play. As in the past, the Baker games would determine the winner. The Lady Spartans cut into the deficit a little after the first Baker game but it was not enough as Loveland out-bowled Turpin the final three games to post a 2146-2054 victory. Leading Turpin was Monica Bosse with a 312 series.
