The Turpin Spartans saw their record improve to 4-0 with a 38-8 win over the Milford Eagles in the first ECC game of the season. Lucas Smith and Will Hausfeld each ran for two scores and Nathan Hooper caught a TD pass from Smith as the Spartans remain atop the ECC standings.
The Turpin Spartans jumped out to a 42-0 lead before coasting to a 56-6 victory over the Western Hills Mustangs Friday in their home opener at Spartans Stadium. The win gives Tuirpin a 3-0 start to the season as they host Milford this Friday.
Lucas Smith had a hand in all of the Spartans scoring plays Friday in their 28-21 win over Clinton Massie, with lots of help from his offensive line, receiver Jake Silverstein and running back Nathan Hooper. Smith tossed three TD passes to Silverstein and then ran in for a score from 1-yard out with 3:03 remaining in the game to pull out the win and make the Spartans 2-0 this season. His score came after Hooper returned the kickoff 95 yards to set up the run.
Will hausfeld ran for 102 yards and two touchdowns and Nathan Hooper ran for 108 more as the Turpin Spartans opened the 2016 season with a 27-6 win over the McNicholas Rockets. The Spartans ran for 265 total yards in a game that started Friday at McNick and was finished on Saturday evening when lightning forced postponement in the fourth quarter.
