Chloe is playing her second year of varsity soccer. Chloe was brought back from her midfield position this year to sure up our defensive line. Chloe is one of our two central defenders that have been very stingy this season.
Olivia is enjoying her second year of varsity soccer after starting two years at the JV level. Olivia is a starting outside midfielder that has scored several goals this year, most recently, a brilliant strike against Lakota West earlier in October.
Today’s spotlight will be on Taylor “Mighty Mouse” Gebhart.
As we head into the playoff season, we turn our attention to our senior players that will be wrapping up their Turpin High School careers.
Today’s spotlight will be on Andrea “ Andy” Gatje.
Andrea is a four year starter as an outside defender for the Spartans. Andrea started playing soccer when she was 5 years old for the powerhouse “Blue Butterflies”, were she mastered the differences between all the field positions and more importantly the difference between the left and right side of the field (some soccer parents still have not mastered this). Andrea played club soccer for the same club her entire career with the Cardinals/Kings/Kings Hammer Academy. More than one of Andrea’s teams were ranked in the top 10 in the country.
Andrea’s mentor and role model was Caroline Mink who shares Andreas tremendous speed on the field. Andrea’s advice to incoming players to Turpin’s program is: “Play your heart out every game and every practice, you never know when it may be your last one, maybe forever.”
Andrea’s fondest memory of Turpin Soccer, is the feeling she had when she stepped on the pitch her first time as a starter for the varsity team as a freshman.
We wish nothing but success for Andrea Gatje as she finishes her high school year and moves onto college….
