The Turpin Boys XC team running in their customary pack of Tanner, Patty, Marcon, Weaver ,Wiesman, Norton and Gothard placed fourth in the Southwest District meet qualifying them for the Regional Meet next week in Troy Ohio.
The Boys XC team saved their best race for the ECC Championships as they placed 5 runners in the top ten to beat Kings and claim their first Eastern Cincinnati Conference title
On Tuesday, September 23, the boys and girls squads traveled to Maineville for the Kings Invitational. Despite sitting some key runners, the teams were able to pull off impressive performances and personal bests.
St Xavier isn’t just one of the best cross country programs in Cincinnati or the state of Ohio but they are recognized nationally as an elite program. This year’s St X invitational pit the Turpin Spartans against 19 teams, eight of which they will face at the District meet. Heading the pack in the Division race was Michael Vittuci the state’s top runner. The course modification and 80 degree weather must have had an effect on the runners as some of the area’s top competitors logged in slower times.
