The Girls Golf team got the week started with a win against Cincinnati Country Day, 185-259. The match at Terrace Park was the lowest team score recorded by a Turpin Girls Golf Team at Terrace Park to date. They followed that up on Tuesday with a victory against Loveland, 188-193. This was a great team victory (44,46,49,49) and marked the first time Turpin has defeated league leading Loveland in a very long time. Noteworthy performances included birdies by Gretchen Sackman and Aly Haverstraw to mark the first birdies of their high school career. Elizabeth Chamberlin was match medalist on Monday and low score for the team against Loveland.
The Spartans had another great week of golf! They started it off with another tournament win in the Eastside Challenge at Stillmeadow CC. The team shot a 314 to defeat 9 other teams. Ryan Lambert led the team as co-medalist with a 75. He had support from Cash Renfro (78), Clay Scherer (80), and Austin Williamson (82). On Tuesday, they defeated Milford at Ivy Hills CC 154 - 176. Cash Renfro fired a two-under 33 and Clay Scherer also delivered a strong 36.
The Girls golf team started off the season with a decisive win over Summit Country Day 184-202. They followed that with a 2nd Place finish at the preseason ECC tournament, which was the best finish and best score for Turpin Girls Golf to date. Elizabeth Chamberlin tied for 2nd place. Freshmen Alyssa Haverstraw and Margot Swartz had impressive opening rounds in league play. Belle Campione turned in another solid performance. Also notable was Elle Palmer's round, which was a personal best. On Monday, Milford upset Turpin 181-189. The team looks forward to a Spetember rematch.
The Turpin boys golf team got their season off to a strong start. They shot 334 at the Anderson Invitational at Legendary Run on Tuesday. Senior Ryan Lambert led the Spartans with a 75. Turpin placed 7th out of 20 teams. They followed up that performance with a 1st place finish on Wednesday in the ECC Preview at Sharon Woods.
