Turpin's Academic Quiz Team faced off against Kings this week. Set on Turpin's home turf, the Spartans were keen to avenge last year's losses to the Knights.
The Turpin Gymnastics got a Saturday off, but they were back at it again on Sunday. They traveled to the Oak Hills Cross Town Flip Off. It had been a rough week and the Spartans were hoping for this meet to get them out of the dumps, and it sure did!
Last weekend varsity finished 4th place of 14 teams in the ECC/SWOC tournament.
Forty-eight hours removed from a bitter loss to their neighborhood rival, the Spartans (8-5) returned to the court Monday night for a non-conference tilt against Madeira (9-3). Turpin responded in front of the Fox 19 sports news crew with quality basketball on both ends of the court in an “intense and physical contest” by defeating the Amazons 41-31 at Klinger Court.
The brutally cold weather appeared to infiltrate the Turpin offense as the Spartans hosted their township adversaries the Anderson Redskins, and Turpin found itself on the bad end of the result this time. Turpin (7-5, 3-4 ECC) started poorly and could not take advantage of their height and strength advantage over the young and up and coming Redskins. Although the Spartans rallied late, they could not overcome the significant 1st half deficit as they fell to the visitors 41-33 in front of a lively and sizeable crowd at Klinger Court.
Earlier this week the Lady Spartans traveled to Mason for a match against the Lakota East Thunderhawks. When all the scores were tallied the lady Spartans came away with an impressive win defeating the Thunderhawks 2068-1582. It was the second highest match score this season for the Spartans.
