Kaitlyn Workman and Nathan Hooper were the 2017 recipients of the The Tony Hemmelgarn Scholarship, a $500 award given by the Turpin Athletic Boosters to one male student-athlete and one female student-athlete in recognition of athletic participation, team contributions, and commitment.

The Turpin boys golf team got their season off to a strong start. They shot 334 at the Anderson Invitational at Legendary Run on Tuesday. Senior Ryan Lambert led the Spartans with a 75. Turpin placed 7th out of 20 teams. They followed up that performance with a 1st place finish on Wednesday in the ECC Preview at Sharon Woods.

The Turpin football team got their season underway this past week with a scrimmage against Ross. The Spartans will scrimmage this Friday against Western Hills, and hen open the season Aug. 25 when they host McNicholas.
Turpin JV Golf traveled to Avon Fields on Tuesday and got the victory over Summit Hills 158-194. Sophomore Austin Williamson led with a 37, followed by a pair of 40s by freshmen Will Henkel and Sam Rana. On Thursday, the Spartans JV welcomed Indian Hill to Legendary Run and walked away with 174-213 win. Freshman Zach Fidishun fired a 39 in his first high school match to lead the team.
