Turpin freshman diver Ali Asbury has earned a spot in the Division I State Diving Championships this week in Canton following a seventh place finish at the Southwest Ohio District Championships.
With the regular season behind them, the Spartans turned their attention to the sectional tournament and an opening game versus GCL stalwart, Mercy. After some jitters and slow start, the Spartans used an 18 point 2nd quarter to take control of the game and a 17 point 3rd quarter to make it academic in route to a comfortable 46-30 victory.
Senior night started a little slow for the Lady Spartans losing regular game # 1 620-627 and game #2 661-655.
On Friday, February 10 the Turpin Spartans (6-12, 4-8 ECC) traveled to Kings (9-10, 6-6 ECC), and the Knights came away with a 57-47 victory.
On Tuesday, February 14 at Klinger Court, Spartan fans said farewell to five Seniors prior to an ECC contest against Withrow (13-8, 8-5 ECC, #9 Enquirer poll.) Although the Spartans (6-14, 4-9 ECC) fell to the Tigers 64-49, it was a memorable evening.
Great weekend of swimming starting with Boys and Girls Sectionals and ending at the Fred Cooper Championship on Sunday.
Turpin’s four seniors, Grace Hamilton, Charlotte Kerregan, Claudia Reynolds and Kaitlyn Workman were recognized last Saturday as large crowd at a finely decorated Klinger Court watched these four play their final home game of their careers. With all the pomp and circumstance, each were accompanied by their parents to the center court for the pregame festivities and the home crowd would leave elated as the Spartans cruised to a 49-21 win over their township rivals the Anderson Redskins.
