Turpin hosted Summit Country Day on Monday night as the visitors came into the game the #1 ranked Division III team in Ohio. The Spartans started quickly and it appeared they were on their way to handing the Silver Knights their first loss of the year, but the Knights came back in the 2nd half and hit a free throw with 4 seconds left to escape Klinger Court with a win.
The Spartans competed at the Milford Invitational over the weekend. After a full day of grappling, the Spartans Brady Eckert and Harty Sand found themselves at the top of the podium earning themselves the first place title.
Turpin's Academic Quiz Team had an overtime thriller to tie Anderson this week, losing the first match 55-41 before rallying to win 49-48.
On Monday Turpin faced Kings in an ECC conference match. The Lady Spartans looked to conquer Kings in Game #1.
On Wednesday night, Milford hosted Turpin in their second match up of the season. This game wasn’t just any game between two area rivals; instead it was the third annual Game of Hope and when all the pomp and circumstance of the evening was complete, a total of $5,000 was raised to benefit the fight against cancer. While the final score indicated a 42-28 Turpin victory, even the Spartans would agree that the biggest winner of the night was The Cure Starts Now Foundation.
On Tuesday, January 24, the Turpin Spartans’ (5-10, 4-5 ECC) modest two game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Glen Este Trojans (7-7, 4-5 ECC). The Trojans were victorious 59-49 on the last occasion they will host the Spartans, and evened the season series at one game apiece.
Another 6am bus trip to Columbus, the Girls Gymnastics traveled to the Worthington Kilbourne Invitational on Saturday January 21st.
