After yielding a lead-off home run to Walnut Hills, Drew Sesler held the Eagles scoreless on only one more hit with four strikeouts at Spartan Stadium. Turpin’s two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning proved to be the difference in a 2-1 pitcher’s duel.
Davis Dwyer (W, 1-0) went five strong innings on the mound with five strikeouts and Ryan Lambert earned the save with four strikeouts in two scoreless innings of relief in a 6-3 victory at Glen Este.
Jake Silverstein struck out 15 batters in a 6-0 complete game victory Saturday against Newport Catholic. He gave up just 4 hits and 1 walk in a masterful pitching performance. All six Spartans runs scored on three home runs by Jake Silverstein, Ryan Lambert and Justin Silverstein.
The Spartans (2-0 ECC, 4-3) bounced back after a tough non-conference weekend in which the bats went silent defeating Loveland 13-3 and 4-3 in their conference opener.
Turpin Men’s Tennis (@TurpinMTennis) is off to a good start in its 2017 quest for a fourth straight ECC title. The Spartans topped ECC rival Milford, 5-0, in the first match of the season at Turpin High School on April 4th.
Turpin Athletic Boosters will award a one-time $500 scholarship to one male student- athlete and one female student-athlete in recognition of athletic participation, team contributions, and commitment. The recipient may or may not be the team’s best athlete; however, he/she has shown exceptional enthusiasm, participation, effort, spirit, and dedication.
The Turpin varsity baseball team played solid defense and blew open a close game in the late innings en route to an 8-1 victory over Dixie Heights on Thursday. Jake Silverstein picked up the win for the home opener and collected two hits to support his own cause. Silverstein went six innings yielding just four hits with three strikeouts. Lucas Smith and Ryan Lambert also contributed two hits apiece.
